How to: Drive a Ford Model T

Share Button

It’s the second-most-popular car in history, but maybe the most formidable to drive. Ford’s Model T is the second-most-popular car of all time, outselling all but the Volkswagen Beetle, and more than 15 million Ts were built over its 19-year life span. But the Ford was designed before driver controls were standardized, so the odd position of the throttle, brake, and shifter make driving a Model T an archaic and dangerous experience. It’s like trying to do the Charleston while loading a musket after a big night at the speak-easy.…

How To: Read a Tyre Sidewall

There?s a lot more information on a tyre?s sidewall than you think, such as where the tyre was made and when, and sometimes even whether your tire complies with pass-by noise regulations in Europe. Here’s how to decode it all: 1.) “245”: The numbers preceding the slash indicate the distance, in millimeters, across the widest point of the tire—called section width (245mm, or 9.65 inches, in this case)—when mounted on a wheel of specified width. This is a rear-drive modified Lambo with 610Kws

When Lamborghini relieved the Huracan of its front driveshaft, thus making it rear-wheel drive, it also cut power from 449Kws to ‘just’ 427Kws. The lighter, edgier LP580-2 would still do 0-100Km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and nudge 320km/h flat out, though. And for the first time, pull big, smokey slides in the process. Novitec’s Huracan will also do smokey drifts. Bigger ones, if the power figure is anything to go buy. To the naturally-aspirated V10 the German tuner has bolted two – yes, two – superchargers, taking total output to…

2017 Renault Duster Revealed

What is it? Shockingly affordable, says Renault . How shocking? This compact crossover-style machine costs from R304 900 or R85 000 less than the price of a Nissan Qashqai 1.5cdi. The Duster is bigger inside, too and has the same 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel engine should you so wish. That’s shocking. Indeed, it should be no surprise to find there are compromises to saving money when buying a Renault Duster. It’s just that the proven Renault bits beneath mean it shouldn’t break or fall to bits.  To buyers who want something…
