A unique Ferrari was seen lapping Fiorano on 25 th September 2020, and although the V12 engine sounded very familiar, the car was actually an exclusive one-off Ferrari GT named the Omologata. With Rossa Magma finish and sophisticated racing livery this marque strikes a chord with the brands aficionados. Commissioned by a decerning European client the unique coach-built one-off model defines Ferraris relation to GT racing, a car equally at ease on the road as it is lapping the track in the hands of a true gentleman driver.

The two-year project to create a futuristic design with distinctive elements and timeless shape to ensure a lasting impression is left. The designers utilised the 812 Superfast keeping only the windscreen and headlights as existing bodywork elements. The Omologata had to ooze street presence whilst maintaining a very pure formal language. The designers carefully studied the stance and attitude of the car from all angles defining tapering front volume from the flattened oval grill. Rounded section over. the front wheel arches and the fastback volume visually lower the rear mass.

A prominent spoiler mounted to the tail adds not only downforce but a more aggressive sporty stance. The Omologata is the 10 th front-engine V12 one-off Ferrari has delivered since 2009 P540 Superfast Aperta. The designers considered clear instructions from the client and many countless variables to make this a bespoke model through and through. They even developed a new shade of red just for the livery to match the fiery triple-layered Rosso Magma over darkened carbon-fibre finish. Inside Ferrari continues with strong details to link Ferrari’s rich racing heritage. Electric blue seats finished in a tasteful combination of leather and Jeans Aunde fabric with 4-point racing harness stand out against a full black interior. Metal parts on the dashboard and steering wheel are finished with crackled paint effect associated with the great GT racers of the 1950s and 1960s as well as Ferrari’s engine cam covers.

As a one-off the Omologata manages to encompass the Ferrari signature design cues without falling into nostalgia. Hand-crafted aluminium bodywork is sprinkled with subliminal detail in a way which challenges enthusiasts to identify the various sources of inspiration that played a part into its inception.
