Unveiled on 16 th September 2020 the new Ferrari Portofino M. The Prancing Horse GT 2+ Spider’s new technical content includes a 620 cv V8 turbo, 5-position Manettino with Race mode, and new 8-speed gearbox.
The Portofino M is the first Ferrari to be presented in the wake of the company’s temporary closure due to the Covid-19 crisis, making it the symbol of a voyage of rediscovery. The M in the name “Portofino M” stands for “Modificata” which in Ferrari nomenclature refers to cars that have undergone an evolution that has boosted their performance.
No shortage of technical innovation the most notable being its redesigned powertrain, a brand new 8-speed gearbox and a 5-position Manettino that includes Race mode, an absolute first for a Maranello GT spider. In terms of the powertrain, the Portofino M’s 3 855cc engine, which belongs to the V8 turbo family voted “International Engine of the Year” on four occasions, has been optimised to unleash 620 cv at 7 500 rpm – 20cv more than the Ferrari Portofino. To replace the previous 7-speed gearbox a completely redesigned 8-speed gearbox has been introduced a first with duel-clutch oil bath architecture with a 20% smaller clutch module and 35% higher torque delivery.
The front-end bumpers have been redesigned and look sportier and more aggressive and the Portofino is the only car on the market which rightfully can be described as an authentic coupe with its top closed and a genuine spider when its open. This is thanks to the Retractable Hard Top (RHT) a signature feature of all the Prancing Horse’s convertibles. Maximum speed of 320 km/hr and 0-100 km/hr in 3.45 seconds, 0-200 km/hr in 9.8 seconds.
