Available in both Coupe and Convertible the new two-seater Jaguar F-Type has arrived in South Africa. Evolved from its World Car Design winning predecessors form the new arrival has plenty to offer buyers in this select segment. Three engine options are available to SA consumers starting with the 221kW/400Nm lngenuim 2.0 litre 4-cylinder P300. This version takes 5.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h achieving a top speed of 250km/h and averaging a 7.2l/100km fuel consumption. Next is the 3.0 litre V6 P380 producing 280 kW and 460Nm reaching 0-100kms in just 4.9 seconds. This V6 offers a choice of rear and all wheel drive and has a top speed of 275km/h. Lastly a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 is the new F-Type R P575, with outputs of 423kW and 700Nm blasting the 0-100km/h test to a mere 3.7 seconds and pushing the maximum speed to 300km/h.
All three engines feature active exhaust systems. The 423kW supercharged V8 version benefits from the new Quiet Start function which ensures a more subtle refined sound. The electronically-actuated bypass valves in the rear silencer remain closed until they automatically open under load. This function can be over-ridden if desired.
The cockpit now features a 12.3-inch HD TFT instrument cluster with reconfigurable graphics unique to the F Type. Rich materials such as Windsor leather, Engine spin metallics and satin-finish Noble Chrome add touches of luxury along with the Jaguar Leaper or R motifs embossed on the headrests.
