Especially for those buyers who want a bit more than the standard Tiguan, the R range is now available and will be Volkswagen’s most powerful SUV on the local market. Combining dynamic performance of a sports car with versatility of an SUV the R variant will produce an output of 235kW accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
Featuring all-wheel drive the Tiguan will achieve a top speed of 250 km/h. The 2-litre four cylinder engine will produce a maximum torque of 400Nm as low as 2 100 rpm and will maintain this high level of torque up to 5 350 rpm. The new all-wheel drive system 4Motion which is also available in the Golf 8 R distributes power to all four wheels increasing handling and agility especially when cornering.
Lots of technology is offered including a powerful 18-inch brake system with blue brake calipers, a DCC chassis which has been lowered by 10mm to enhance stability. A driving profile sporty mode has been added and is activated by means of a blue R button on the new multi-function steering wheel. Separate large paddles are also situated on the sports steering wheel for manual control of the 7-speed DSG gearbox.
