Just when you thought Suzuki had enough models and variants on the road to please most potential buyers, along came the all-new Suzuki Fronx. It’s a vehicle with a trendy design featuring a catchy name and although it looks like a crossover version of the Suzuki Baleno, it is actually an all-new SUV developed ground-up. Fronx means Frontier – Next which essentially points to a new direction so maybe this is an indication of where Suzuki wants to take the brand in the future.

A new styling concept mixing the look of a coupe and SUV offers customers a combination of style, performance, and value-for-money. A bold front grille and sloping roofline, bold wheel arches, dual layer front lights with a follow-me-home function. Led tail lamps and on the GLX the LED tail lamps are connected by a LED light bar that runs the length of the vehicle. Roof rails, daytime running lights and alloy wheels come as standard regardless of specification level. Four versions are available from launch, the GL in five speed manual or four speed automatic and the more luxurious GLX again in a choice of two transmissions.

All models have 16-inch alloy wheels (silver on the GLX), roof rails (again silver on the GLX), a rear mounted spoiler with shark fin antennae and high mounted daytime running lights. Colour matched side mirrors with built in indicators and black mirrors on the duel colour models. Slightly smaller dimensions than the Grand Vitara, 3 995 meters long against the Vitara at 4 345 metres for example. Luggage volume at 304 litres growing to 605 litres with the rear seatback folded forward. 170mm ground clearance with 195/60 tyres on the 16-inch rims.

One engine fitted to all models, the 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 77 kW at 6 000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4 400 rpm.

Inside the cabin you will find every convenience that you would expect at the price. Leather clad mulit-function steering wheel with buttons for Bluetooth cell phone connection, audio controls and cruise control. Electric windows, climate control, rear-seat ventilation, central locking, electric power steering, dual-mounted USB charging points, front-mounted 12V charging socket and console box which doubles as an armrest and storage compartment.

Looking specifically at the GLX models and you will get keyless entry, push-button start, wireless charging, head-up display, dual vanity mirrors and additional lighting in the glove compartment and front footwells. The GLX also benefits from larger sized infotainment system with a mounted 9-inch display with 360-degree video image camera. The GL has a 7-inch screen and static reverse camera. All models have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. The GLX has a full colour information screen in the instrument panel.
