The Kia Motor company (Korean Industry of Automobile) first launched in South Africa in December 1997 through a division of the Imperial group. Since launch the brand has increased in sales and penetration achieving a place in the top-ten automakers in South Africa. The latest model to be given a re-design is the larger SUV in the family the Kia Sportage. The fifth generation Sportage projects cutting edge sleek yet muscular exterior design along with new design features in the interior. Kia’s acclaimed “Opposites United” design philosophy is at the heart of the new Sportage youthful appearance.
The Kia designers did not want to simply take one step forward but instead take the design to a different level in the SUV class. Tense and crisp lines along the refined body amplify the new design look confirming the way forward for the future of the Kia brand. From the front the first feature you notice is the futuristic styled boomerang-shaped daytime running lights at the edge of the elongated black grille stretching across the width of the face. The front signature Tiger Nose grille acts as the visual focal point of the car. The pronounced bumper and striking headlamps complete the new look front end. The side view shows clean lines but refined body-surfaces. A first for the Sportage is the black roof – a different colour paint option to the body of the vehicle. From the rear the powerful broad shoulders personify strength and stability and maintains a strong road presence. The razor rear lamps are connected by a slim horizontal design, giving the all new Sportage a stunning wide impression from the back.
Moving into the cabin a sculptured integrated curved display with a slim crush touchscreen pad forms the nucleus of the new spectacular cabin. The curved display sweeps across the front of the cockpit projecting great width and depth. High tech touchscreen along with advanced integrated controller act as the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity, functionality, and usability needs. Highest quality materials that are sumptuous to touch, dynamic and vibrant colour options along with chrome and pad print. For comfort the rear of the driver and front passenger seats are integrated hanger-type design within the slim headrests, allowing clothing and handbags to be easily and conveniently hooked into place.
Lastly the all new X-Line features a unique bumper, side sills and curved roof rack. On the inside customers can choose between a signature sage green or black seating as well as bold quilting and black metal wood to further bring to life the model’s confident persona.
