Car and Bike SA had the pleasure to test drive the Suzuki Jimny a few years ago which left us impressed by the all-round performance of this funky vehicle especially when taken off-road. Today we are excited to learn the popular Jimny will soon be available in a five-door version.

Revealed at the Auto Expo in India yesterday the five door variant is currently in production and will be heading to SA as soon as available. Keeping the 1.5 petrol engine and choice of five-speed automatic transmission the engineers have not tampered with the off-roader’s capabilities, power, or overall structure. 210mm ground clearance, AllGrip four-wheel drive system which allows for a change between 2WD and 4WD on the fly.

Equipped with low range 4WD system for technical off-road driving. With the extra two rear doors the new Jimny is 360mm longer than its little brother while both the width and height remain unchanged. The wheelbase has been stretched by 340mm to 5 90mm. Approach angle of 36 degrees and departure angle of 50 degrees.

The load compartment has also been enlarged and the front seats can fold flat to connect with the rear seats creating two cushioned sleeping spaces if you want to spend the night inside the Jimny on rugged off-road adventures.
