The second-generation Toyota Aygo debuted in 2015 with a highly-expressive design. For 2018, the bold ‘super-mini’ has gone under the proverbial surgeon’s knife and emerged with a fresh new design that simultaneously pays homage to the original “X”-motif and provides a rejuvenated appearance. Dashing Design The standout feature of the facelifted Aygo are the new larger projector headlamps, incorporating prominent LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which utilise a light guide to trace the inner border of the headlamp housing. These stylised headlamps now form a point of parity with its…

It’s the second-most-popular car in history, but maybe the most formidable to drive. Ford’s Model T is the second-most-popular car of all time, outselling all but the Volkswagen Beetle, and more than 15 million Ts were built over its 19-year life span. But the Ford was designed before driver controls were standardized, so the odd position of the throttle, brake, and shifter make driving a Model T an archaic and dangerous experience. It’s like trying to do the Charleston while loading a musket after a big night at the speak-easy.…

But having witnessed the reveal of this all-new, sixth-generation Polo at a fancy standalone event in Berlin, we can tell you it now really does look like a miniature Golf. It’s as if the Mk7.5 spawned a Mini-Me. Not all of the angles are exactly correct, and what’s not obvious from the pictures is the sharply creased side detailing, which really stands out in…

BY PAUL OWEN While riding the leviathan Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited the other day recently, I began to mentally compile a list of the five bikes that are today’s finest lightweight tourers. Now, the 400kg Ultra is quite possibly the greatest American touring bike ever made (review pending), but I’d find all that mass hard to live with over the long term. I prefer bikes that are easier to park up (and easier to pick up again if you have to). Getting to the digs du noir is awesome on bikes…

Concept Closely Previews Production Model Erick Ayapana Words Audi had a lot of metal to show at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, but the Q8 e-tron concept was the debut that stole the spotlight. The coupe-inspired crossover closely previews a production model slated to arrive sometime next year, built on the same modular platform that underpins the Audi Q7. The automaker says the Audi Q8 concept is a mix of coupe-like styling with a few elements harkening back to the vintage Ur-quattro as well. For starters, the wide C-pillar is…

It’s a devil of a machine. Diesel and Ducati have collaborated for a very limited edition Diavel motorcycle. Andrea Rosso and the Ducati Design Center worked on a ‘post-apocolyptic, retro-futuristic’ design and we’re definitely getting Mad Max vibes from this collaboration, with a clear merging of past and future. It comes in a sumptuous leather palette, hand-brushed stainless steel on the tank and touches of red found on the diesel logo and the LCD dashboard. The devil is clearly in the detail, as the two brands have produced only 666…

by Keith WR Jones The original Nissan Qashqai was a sales success in the way the iPhone was for Apple. It was one of the first cars to popularise the so-called crossover genre, blending the low-running costs of family hatchbacks with SUV looks, and becoming a commercial success in the process. Over two million have rolled off the production line since its launch in 2007. So the second-generation Nissan Qashqai had big shoes to fill, and bigger it is: wider and longer this time around, but it’s also lighter and more efficient, too. It’s a…

by Anthony ffrench-Constant Verdict Given that Mercedes’ ambition to fill every off-road niche is still a motor show reveal or two short of completion, you’d be forgiven for thinking it a mite odd that the company should suddenly peel off down the potential sales cul de sac of the off-road estate and introduce this E-Class All-Terrain. Established competition from Audi and Volvo Then again, with the E-Class already widely celebrated as a Jolly Good Thing, allied to the somewhat tardy recognition that the likes of the Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo’s V90 Cross Country have…
