YAMAHA has filed a trademarked application for the name ‘Tracer GT’, raising the prospect of a touring edition of the MT-10.
As the MT-10 uses the frame and engine from the current YZF-R1, a Tracer version would mean a tourer based on the same superbike platform.
Yamaha currently offers a touring edition of the MT-10 (pictured above) using parts from the accessories range including a comfort seat, screen, soft panniers and sat nav. A Tracer version could go further, with revised suspension and more leg-room for rider and pillion.
The trademark application was filed on April 19 with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, reports the US site Motorcycle.com.
