Honda Ballade – (2020) Prices and Spec

In 1982 the first-generation Honda Ballade was launched featuring the tilt up eye lids over the front headlights when you switched the lights on. 40 years later one of Honda’s most iconic models in South Africa remains one of our most recognised brand names and has played a significant role in cultivating the growth of Honda Motor SA on our shores. Now in 2020 the eighth generation Ballade is launched in SA a symbol of the brands evolution in Southern Africa. The Ballade raises the bar to a whole new level with a strikingly sporty and sophisticated exterior design, exceptional interior space and an extensive range of high-tech features.

The new Ballade is larger than the outgoing model, 110mm longer and 55mm wider and 10mm lower, translating into a lower centre of gravity for greater stability, boosting cornering confidence and improved overall driving dynamics. The Ballade Comfort and Elegance models are equipped with projector type halogen lights while the range topping RS is fitted with LED headlights and fog lamps. All models come standard with LED daytime running lights and distinctive LED taillights that wrap around the side body to accentuate the aerodynamic design. 15-inch alloy wheels while the RS has the 16-inch alloys. The flagship RS also has front and rear sports bumpers, a rear trunk spoiler, a mesh-type grille and unique fog lamp housing.

Driving comfort has been significantly enhanced through fitment of the new seat designs featuring high quality fabric upholstery on Comfort and Elegance models while the RS has premium leather. Another new addition is the high-resolution 8- inch touchscreen display which is neatly integrated into the instrument panel. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth from steering wheel controls. Cruise control, electrically operated side mirrors and windows, automatic air- conditioning and auto headlights are all standard features.

1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine is upgraded to the 1.5L DOHC engine with i-VTEC technology. The new improved powertrain achieves improved efficiency and reduced emissions without compromising on performance. Higher power output of 89kW ay 6 600 rmp while peak torque of 145 Nm is now reached at a lower engine speed of 4 500 rmp. 5.5 L/100km and CO2 emissions of 131 g/km. Safety has also been upgraded offering Anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Vehicle Stability Assist. Rear parking sensors is standard while the RS model gains a reverse camera for parking. Launching with three models Comfort, Elegance and RS in Platinum White (Pearl), Radiant Red (Metallic), Lunar Silver (Metallic) or Modern Steel (metallic).
