In 1996 Mercedes first launched the compact Vito, a van in the 2.6 to 2.8 tonne class which heralded the start of a new age for light-weight commercial vehicles. 25 years and 1.8 million units later the latest facelift Vito is available in Panel Van and Tourer variants with a maximum payload of 1 369 kilograms. The updated Vito has not only been made sportier and more stylish; it is also packed with value-added enhancements. In a time where more and more companies are offering on-line home deliveries the new Vito is an ideal choice as a small package delivery vehicle.
From the outside the radiator grille has been re-designed with or without the chrome option. Further options include painted bumpers, Active Brake Assist and a Driver Assist Package. Inside the cabin has been improved with hard-wearing and elegant “Caluma” fabric replacing the previous “Tunja” fabric. It features a white stripe pattern on the seat cushion and backrest, while the sides and headrest are finished off in a long-lasting black. The dashboard is now framed by an element in high-quality piano lacquer finish, and vent5ilation nozzles have a turbine look and are situated on the left and right edges of the dashboard. Lastly a heavy duty and waterproof floor covering is used which improves dampening and an ant-slip surface for entering and exiting the vehicle.
Infotainment has also been given a facelift with digital radio reception, Bluetooth interface, hand-free functionality, and music streaming. The new Audio 30 and Audio 40 systems have a 7-inch touchscreen with Smartphone Integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety was always a tradition in the Vito with the Panel van being the first van to be equipped as standard with airbags and seat belt reminders for both driver and passenger. StandardsSafety equipment includes Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, and as an option the buyer can chose Active Brake Assist.
The new Mercedes Benz Vito is sold with a 5-year/100 000km ServiceCare BestBasic contract as standard. The contract includes:
- The Labour to perform the service
- The cost of all oils and lubricants for the engine and gearbox and axles
- The cost of air filters.
ServiceCare Complete is also available which is an all-inclusive maintenance package that offers additional comprehensive protection. The package covers all items in the BestBasic plan as well as wear and tear repairs (e.g. brakes, battery, clutch, suspension, oil) for a fixed cost. This package also covers warranty of nearly all parts and assemblies (e.g. engine, transmission, electrical components, axles, and air conditioning.
