The model which is driving the success for Suzuki in South Africa is the Suzuki “Swift”, selling 749 units in March 2021 from a total number of units sold of 1 962 (38% of total sales). The Swift is also South Africa’s top award-winning Budget car of the year. Introduced to the SA market in 2018 the Swift has become a best seller and notched up Car of the year nominations in South Africa, Japan, and Europe. Now its time to give this winner an updated fresh face to ensure it stays
on top of the sales chart.
Although minor changes the new model features a distinctive chrome line that divides the grille into a section with the large Suzuki emblem and a lower section which holds the front number plate. The grille itself has an increased distinctive mesh pattern the projects a sportier look. The GL and GLX variants are fitted with front fog lights. The entry level GA model now has full wheel covers and rear parking sensors as standard. One level up the GL has new rear parking sensors and the option of duel-tone colour schemes.
Top of the range GLX adds high resolution reverse camera that displays an image on a touch screen infotainment system. Along with two tone colour option the GLX also has new 15-inch polished alloy wheels. Safety and security have also been upgraded adding Hill Hold Assist in manual models as standard and most significantly Electronic Stability Control. SRS front and passenger airbags, ABS brakes, emergency brake assistance, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, ISOFIX anchor points for child seat, and an immobiliser and alarm system all complete the upgrade in this department.
The new trend of duel-colour options in demand on the Brezza model, Suzuki has agreed to offer these on the new Swift range. The standard colour palette will include Fire Red, Midnight Blue Pearl, Lucent Orange Metallic, Arctic White Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Magma Grey Metallic and now also Midnight Black Pearl. The GL and GLX can be further specified with three unique duel-tone colours. Fire Red with black roof, Midnight Blue Pearl with a white roof and Arctic White pearl with a black roof.
The Swift is powered by the four-cylinder Suzuki K12M-petrol engine using variable valve technology to deliver 61 kW at 6 000 rpm and 112 Nm at 4 200 rpm. 4.9 litres per 100km makes the engine highly efficient. Other upgrade features include electric windows, air-conditioning, and central locking. The GL adds fog lamps, audio system with UBS, tachometer and electrically adjustable mirrors. GLX moves up from air-conditioning to climate control, keyless entry, start/stop button, 15-inch alloys and electric folding mirrors.
All Suzuki Swift models are sold with 2-year/30 000km service plan and a five year/200 000km promotional warranty.
