Two of South Africa’s most popular compact SUVs, the Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Evoque, will be offered in a special edition model. Firstly, the new Discovery Sport Urban Edition based on the current R-Dynamic specification will feature distinct design elements including shadow aluminium finishes, non-leather Luxtec Suedecloth seats and a black contrast roof. Available in six colours, Namib Orange, Carpathian Grey, Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Ostuni White and Hakuba Silver. Also included are Land Rover’s latest technology such as the powered tailgate, ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror which switches between a video feed and mirror allowing the driver to see what is behind the vehicle clearly even if the view is obstructed by passengers or luggage.
Choose from two four-cylinder Ingenium powertrains both paired with eight speed automatic transmissions. 147kW and 430Nm with acceleration from 0- 100km/h in 8.6 seconds from the D200 turbodiesel and 183kW/365Nm from the P250 turbo-petrol delivering 0-100km/h in 7.8 seconds. The Range Rover Evoque adds the special edition Bronze Collection based on the existing Evoque S specification. From the outside the new Evoque Bronze will be immediately recognisable by the distinctive Corinthian Bronze contrast roof, Burnished Copper side vents and exclusive new satin Dark Grey 20-inch five split- spoke alloy wheels. Available in three colours – Carpathian Grey, Santorini Black and Seoul Pearl Silver.
Inside Natural Grey Ash veneers, Unique Bronze Collection carpet mats with metal-capped corners and Ebony grained leather seats add a heightened sense of
luxury. Sliding Panoramic Roof, LED headlights and signature Daylight Running lights provide further visual sophistication to the exterior. The Bonze Collection Special Edition is available with the D200, P250 and P300e Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. The P300e being the efficient Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle combining a 1.5 litre three cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor gaining smooth zero-emission of pure-electric driving for 55km. Amazing efficiency from the P300e which emits just 44g/km of CO2 and delivers fuel economy as low as 2.0L/100km.
The PHEV’s SAVE mode allows the system to recharge effectively on the move when battery charge is being saved for a later part of the journey – at a steady 113km/h, up to 80% of the battery charge can be attained in just 90 minutes. Both New special edition Discovery and Evoque models come with a standard Land Rover Care Plan which includes a 100 000km warranty and servicing within a five-year period whichever comes first. The Discovery Sport Urban Edition and Range Rover Evoque Bronze Collection are planned for introduction to South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2021 and pricing will be announced closer to launch time.
