With the new locally built Nissan Navara set to roll off the production line at Nissans Rosslyn plant in June 2021, orders are now open. Retail prices start at R311 000 for the 2.5 Petrol XE SC and R740 000 for the top of the range 2.5D PRO- 4X 4×4 AT DC. The new Navara line-up is an exciting range with a variant to suit everyone’s needs, whether you are buying for business or a family leisure vehicle suitable for both on and off road. Even with Improved styling, enhanced technical and power specs, the Navara still remains competitively priced.
The single cab 2.5i DDTi diesel (XE and SE) has a 2.5 litre duel overhead camshaft with direct injection, turbocharged with an intercooler diesel engine producing 120 Kw of power and 403Nm torque. A popular choice for South African buyers as it is the most powerful engine in its class. Overall, the new Navara delivers superb handling, heightened performance, improved shock absorber damping, new duel-rate 5 link suspension and increased rear height. A new chassis has also been included with revised mountings for less vibration.
The 4×4 models drive in 2WD for maximum efficiency and can shift to 4WD at speeds of up to 100km/h with Nissan’s shift-on-the-fly 4×4 gearbox. The 4H System constantly monitors conditions and adjusts the balance of power between the front and rear axles to maintain traction, while the Active Brake limited Slip Differential system manages power delivery and wheel braking between front and rear axles and also between the left and right of the vehicle depending on traction and speed. Low range 4WD (2LO) is also available for difficult terrain. Payload has been increased and is now 100kg bigger thanks to the increase of 36mm at the front end and 64mm in the rear of the height of the load-box. To assist loading and unloading an additional step has been added to the rear bumper along with an easy-lift tailgate. If you require more space and need to pull a trailer, then the new Nissan’s trailer Sway Control (TSC) system with yaw-rate monitoring can detect the tailors self-oscillation, while the vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC) enables it to handle the brake pressure of the trailer to reduce self-oscillation.
The new Navara line-up also features additional technology through Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility (NIM) and offers a host of features such as an 8-inch touchscreen, Nissan Connect, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The styling continues to project a rugged look while being tough enough to get the job done or take that family off-road adventure.
