Since Kia introduced its Sonet model in April 2021 to the South African market it has sold 3 500 units making it one of the most popular SUVs in its segment. Just over a year later Kia has launched the new Sonet 1.0 T-GDi turbocharged derivative. Powered by a naturally aspired 1.5-litre engine in the entry level LX and mid-tier EX specification and top-tier EX+.
The new model 1.0 T-GDI is equipped with Kia’s advanced 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission boasts outputs of 88kW at 6 000 r/min and a stout 172 Nm of torque on a plateau from 1,500-4,000 r/min.
