As customers demand a rugged luxury SUV with proven durability the Toyota fourth-generation Prado comes to mind. Launched in 2009, the Prado continues to sell strongly in global markets. More reason to introduce a significant upgrade with more power and torque as well as multimedia technologies. An additional 30 kW of power and 100 Nm of torque derived from the switch to the new generation 2.8-litre GD-6 turbo engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission (previously five-speed).
Improved fuel efficiency realised through optimised pistons and piston rings, changes to the cylinder block and head. Higher fuel-injection flow rate and the adoption of high-performance materials for the exhaust manifold. Despite stronger outputs, fuel consumption improves to 7,9 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions are down to 209 g/km. 87-litre main fuel tank and an additional 63-litre sub tank providing fuel capacity of 150 – litres.
Previous 8-inch screen is increased to 9-inch with enhanced voice recognition and compatibility with Apple Car-Play and Android Auto. Google Maps, Waze, Spotify and Soundcloud can be utilised on mobile-phone-services.
