Especially for Toyota enthusiasts, turbocharged power, agile and dynamic handling, good looks in the design department that’s the new GR Corolla. The G16E-GTS 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine is further enhanced to suit this hot hatch with a 12% increase in power to 221kW, mated to an intelligent six-speed manual transmission. The GR Corolla employs the GR-Four all-wheel-drive system developed through Toyota’s involvement in the World Rally Championship. Assembled at the Motomachi plant in Japan the birthplace of legends such as the Lexus LFA and Supra A80, the GR Corolla will go onto the production line alongside the GR Yaris.
Pricing, specifications and model line-up for South Africa will be confirmed closer to launch. The model will be offered in limited quantities and distribution will be through GR-focused dealerships.
