OverviewTata-owned luxury automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is all geared up to showcase all-new reworked Jaguar XF at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February and will be launched in SA market in the early 2016. The reworked Jaguar XF sedan will compete against the likes of Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Volvo S90 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Exterior and Interiors
In terms of design, the new Jaguar XF will be very much similar to the outgoing model but will feature quite a few upgrades as well. The external look of Jaguar XF will come with more vertical front end as well as shorter front overhang along with longer wheelbase and the aggressive looking front and rear taillights reflecting Jaguar’s latest advancement towards designing their luxurious cars. Jaguar will introduce headlights feature adaptive full-LED technology for the first time in any of their cars. The brand’s signature J-Blade LED daytime running lights will also be incorporated in the new Jaguar XF, as seen in the preceding model. The all-new XF will be 4,954mm in length and longer wheelbase of 51mm. However, the new XF will be shorter by 7mm and 3mm lower as compared to older XF.
On the inside, the main highlight of the Jaguar XF remains the start up sequence that brings life to the cabin. The rotary gear selector ascends from the centre console and the air vents rotates at the positions. Moreover, a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch touch-screen along with, four-zone climate control, 10-colour ambient lighting adds an extra luxury factor to the internal cabin. Moreover, the longer wheelbase of the new Jaguar XF will provide an extra factor of space for the occupants in the second row.
Engine Specifications
Internationally, the new Jaguar XF range comprises of XF Prestige, XF R-Sport, XF Portfolio and XF S models and these models are equipped with variety of drive-train options that includes a 2-litre Ingenium diesel (manual) producing 160bhp, 2-litre Ingenium diesel (automatic) churning 180bhp, 3-litre V6 diesel automatic good for 300bhp and a 3-litre V6 petrol automatic generating 380bhp engines. However, the SA market based Jaguar XF sedan is anticipated to be equipped with all-new 2-litre Ingenium diesel engine along with existing 2-litre petrol and V6 engines.
Launch Date, Price and Competition
Jaguar XF sedan will make its debut at the forthcoming 2016 Auto Expo in February and expected to be priced in the range of R650 000 – 700 000. The new Jaguar XF will lock horns against Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Volvo S90 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
