The New VW Amarok not only produces 190 kW and 580 Nm but also offers the ultimate civilian level of armoured protection namely B6 that can stop bullets
fired from assault rifles including AK47. The conversion is also available in handgun protection level on the Amarok the B4.
The conversion entails stripping the interior to the bare metal and meticulously building the vehicle up as an armoured unit. Special steel armoured plates are used for the body and 38mm thick armoured glass for the glazing. The suspension needs to be upgraded to support the 650 kg additional mass. No alteration is required for the powertrain as the V6 still offers plenty of clout even with the extra weight.
The conversion will take 12 weeks to complete and the end result is an Amarok which appears completely standard from both outside and inside. SVI is the company which performs the conversion, established in 2004 they have become a market leader in Africa serving the individual corporate, security, mining, and government markets. The B6 conversion will cost R655 000 ex VAT before options and the standard warranty of 1-year /50 000km applies on the armouring for road use.
