Volvo continues its charge into the future with fully electric vehicles, in its race to only sell electric vehicles by 2030, opening its order books in South Africa for the C40 at a retail price from R1 285 000 with only 50 units allocated, estimated delivery in June 2023.
Buyers need to bear in mind the purchase price includes the Volvo Care package, which comprises a five-year maintenance plan and warranty (with the battery pack covered for eight years or 160 000km), a home charging wall-box and a public charging cable.
The C40 has a two motor configuration with one on the front axle and one on the rear axle which provides all-wheel drive traction and impressive peak outputs of 300 kW and 660 Nm. A very impressive 0-100km/h sprint in a mere 4.7 seconds and a range of 444 kms thanks to the 78 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack.
