The Nissan Gravite has officially launched in South Africa as the brand looks to regain market share in an increasingly competitive environment dominated by Chinese manufacturers. It has already taken the decision to sell its local manufacturing plant and in the future import product which has been built in its Indian factory. (Ironically, the buyer of the SA plant is the Chery Auto group a Chinese competitor to Nissan).
In an effort to try and regain some lost market share Nissan is bringing to South Africa the all-new Indian built “Gravite.” A seven-seater multi-purpose (MPV) tailored to the needs of local customers. Following Nissans new global design language, the Gravite has elevated proportions, muscular body lines, pronounced wheel arches and high ground clearance.
Nissan Gravite Specifications and Features
Key exterior highlights include piano black grille, signature LED headlamps with integrated DRLS, LED taillamps, roof rails and wide opening doors designed for enhanced practicality. Flexible seating configurations allow accommodation for up to seven occupants, with removeable third-row seats to expand the luggage capacity.
Up-dated technology such as the floating 20.3 cm infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless device charging, 17.7 cm fully digital advanced multi-functional cluster, with auto locking doors and front and rear parking sensors. Drivers have access to 30 standard safety features including electronic stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Brake Assist System (BAS), ABS and EBD.
Powered by a 1-liter petrol engine outputting 72PS at 6250 rpm and 96Nm at 3400-3600 rpm peak torque. 5-speed manual or 5-speed EZ-shift automated manual transmission (AMT). Both have excellent fuel economy.
For a limited time, the all-new Gravite will also be offered in a launch Edition which features unique styling, and enhanced interior features.
